Description
Who am I?
Hi! My name is Brita Brazil. I was the first supermodel from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2020 I wrote a book telling this story. Now, I'm producing the documentary "Márcia Brito, the first supermodel from Rio de Janeiro" - by Brita Brazil. The book will be released along with the documentary, which I've been filming since January 2025.
I worked as a model for 23 years, during the intense and remarkable periods of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I also worked in Europe in the 70s for these model agencies: Bobton's (England), Paris Planning (France), and Fashion Models (Italy). In 1976 I also worked in Mexico City.
Throughout my modeling career, I have been heavily involved in activism for my passions: Brazilian Indigenous Culture, Nature, and low-income Brazilian children.
This film is not a vanity piece. It's a valuable historical record of a bygone era, preserving memories and moments of the Rio fashion scene. I have unique access to this rich archive, having kept hundreds of photos and memorabilia for six decades from the 60s. I want to share these memories with a wider audience, creating a treasure for fashion and cultural enthusiasts, historians, and the next generation of fashionistas.
Why do I need your help?
This documentary is a tribute to Brazilian and International Fashion. It is an opportunity of valuing our memory and inspire new generations with a real and transformative story.
Now, I want to share this unique journey with the world through a documentary that I´m producing and co-directing with DP Tiago Liel, based on the book I wrote in 2020, "Márcia Brito, the first supermodel from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil".
It rescues the 23 years I've spent in the fashion world. I´m not showing only myself, but most of the professional people that were there, and how we made that business happen. Since January 2025, we have started shooting this documentary by conducting interviews with important people in this business as fashion producers, photographers, models, fashion designers, and also advertisers. Most of them are in the pictures above. However, to continue and complete this production, we need your support.

Current pictures
In July 2025, I interviewed journalist and respected fashion producer Iesa Rodrigues. She praised my shape and suggested that I return to photographing professionally. As Márcio Madeira, a Brazilian photographer who lives in Paris, was on his annual vacation here in Rio, made this proposal and he immediately agreed! Thanks to Iesa for her great idea! Here are some of the photos we took. I loved the result! And you, did you like it?
